What a joy these two books were to make! Baby Animals and Water World, published in 2016, are beautiful little reference books for very young readers, which I wrote and edited. I first selected all of the illustrations to include in the books from RD’s extensive illustration archive (which spans more than 40 years of publishing illustrated reference books). I then put my natural-history knowledge – from editing several other books about animals – to good use. The text was carefully levelled, with a word list at the back for trickier vocabulary.
