One of my first titles at Reader’s Digest, Grow Your Own was published in 2009. I project managed the freelance team (editor, consultant, designer, picture researcher, illustrator, proofreader) and worked with the editor to copyedit the layouts. This book was an adaptation of a much older UK title, so needed full-scale revision to suit Australian and New Zealand climates.

I also project managed and edited the companion recipe book, The Kitchen Garden Cookbook, which was published early 2010. The original UK recipes needed conversion into Australian English and usage, and I paid close attention to the recipe content in Grow Your Own to ensure there were no overlaps. I needed to swap out much of the overly British content for recipes and growing tips that were suitable for the Australian palate and climate. This included new sections on Asian Greens and Bush Food.
